The College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University

The Greater Ithaca Activities Center is a center for all ages, particularly
youth and teens. We serve the immediate neighborhood and the greater Ithaca
area by providing multicultural, educational, and recreational programs
focused on social and individual development.
Our programs include services dedicated to improving the quality of
life for the people we serve; advocating for the rights and needs of youth,
families, underrepresented and disenfranchised populations; providing structured
employment training opportunities for at risk youth and adults; and fighting
against oppression and intimidation in our community.
Our center executes this mission through its own programming and by
drawing on the resources of other community agencies and individuals.

The twelve schools of the Ithaca City School District serve approximately
5,000 students in pre-kindergarten through Grade 12. The District
employs approximately 600 teachers and over 500 teacher aides, teaching
assistants, food service workers, school bus drivers, clerical employees,
registered nurses, computer technicians, buildings and grounds staff, and

The Ithaca Youth Bureau(IYB)is a public agency providing a wide variety
of recreation programs and youth services to promote the health, happiness
and well-being of the 7,500 Ithaca area youth and their families who are
served annually. Program areas include: sports
leagues and lessons, expressive arts programs,summer day camps, after school
programs, recreation mainstreaming services,an outdoor adventure program,jobs
and employment training or teens,a computer recycling program,a Big Brother/Big
Sister program, tutoring and academic support, a stay and play program
for tots,and sponsorship of community events. In addition, the IYB manages
a municipal park, an outdoor swimming pool and ice skating rink for the
City of Ithaca. IYB employs 33 full-time permanent staff an additional
325 seasonal employees are hired primarily during the summer.

for persons aged 50 and over. Best of all, Lifelong is run by the people

McGraw House is a private non-profit apartment building with 105studio
and one bedroom units for low and moderate income Senior Citizens 62 years
of age or older. Though we are not a health care facility, residents may
purchase dinner six days a week from our dining service. We also have a
Service Coordinator on staff who assists residents with obtaining services
to help manage the aging-in- place process. In addition, we are a HUD facility,
governed by NYS's Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) and
managed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

MRC is a small 501(3) organization whose mission is to create dialogue
around diversity issues in Tompkins County. MRC facilitates community leadership
on these issues and helps empower people to embrace our communities ethnic
and cultural diversity. MRC provides information, program collaborations,
contacts, diversity workshops, books, tapes and cultural celebrations to
increase local awareness and understanding of the rich variety of cultural
identities in our communities. Since its' founding in 1987, MRC has been
actively engaged in helping our community address conflicts arising from
diversity issues.

Tompkins Community Action (TCAction) is a private, not-for-profit
charitable organization that began in 1964 as a grassroots effort to improve
the lives of low-income children, families, and individuals in Tompkins
County. We were incorporated as a 501 (c)3 in 1966 and are one of over
1,000 Community Action Agencies (CAAs) in the US, Puerto Rico, and the
US Territories. Each year a consumer mix of over 6,500 households and individuals
come to TCAction for assistance. We administer over 16 programs annually,
tailored to the needs of an ever-changing community. As a CAA, TCAction
works to conscientiously and efficiently utilize all available funding
resources to assist our consumers in acquiring beneficial skills and knowledge,
gaining access to new opportunities, and achieving economic self-sufficiency.

The Town of Ithaca, located on beautiful Cayuga
Lake, is home to more than 18,000 residents and is home to Cornell
University and Ithaca College. Located in Tompkins County, the area has
